Many children, little wifi

Even if I had always hoped that my children would not just sit on their smartphone or their computer, it has come differently. I am lucky enough to have triplets, which are now all smartphone-age. My problem was however a house. This had unfortunately the property to be very large and thus the WLAN signal of my Fritz box was not sufficient in the rooms of my children. They all sat in the living room and stared at their mobile phone. Dreamlike. It had to be different.  

Again an AVM FRITZ Box 3490 DSL modem

I had read that it was possible to connect two modems to each other. Since I already had an AVM FRITZ Box 3490 DSL modem, I bought again so one. After a few days, the package arrived with me. I hoped the installation was just as easy as setting up my first box. So I grabbed the small red modem and took the manual to hand. Thanks to the simple and very understandable instructions, I was able to set it up quickly.  

Connect the two modems

This fusion has been much more complicated. After some research I connected my original AVM FRITZ Box 3490 DSL modem with the new. About the device's software, I was able to network the second box as an access point. This assumes the function of a WLAN repeater, whereby I can however also in the second box a LAN connection can produce. Through the simple menu I was able to quickly adapt the passwords so that my children did not have to constantly enter the long identification number at the bottom of the AVM FRITZ Box 3490 DSL modem. However, this feature is also very handy when all are on the net again and do not complete their tasks. Change your password and you will have time at the same time.  

No cable

For the whole connection I needed only one LAN cable to the upper floor and already was covered completely with WLAN. I had however still another function discovered by this connection, which I from the old box still did not know. This now that both AVM FRITZ Box 3490 DSL modems were connected, I could now use the cloud function of the Fritzbox. I was always chosen to read essays and lectures of my children's correction. They have always presented me these always printed. When I corrected them, they had to be reprinted again. With the AVM FRITZ Box 3490 DSL modem is no longer necessary. Thanks to the internal memory, my children can easily upload their data. I can then access my computer and control the texts. Then I upload the corrected texts again and my children print them out. Practically.  

Load capacity

If I consider that every day at least five devices hang on the box, wireless is continuously used and I never switch off the box, I have to say that the box is very resilient. I have only the problem that I can not fix it properly to the wall and the AVM FRITZ Box 3490 DSL modem now stands also in the course on a cabinet. Consequently, she again takes off some space that is always scarce in a big household. But this is really only a small drawback. Also our first Fritzbox has been in use for four years and all lamps and the buttons for the setting of the telephone and the WLAN are still intact. Reliable as on the first day, I can immediately detect faults or functional limitations. Also the menu and the control of the calls and the telephone book function are more than useful. It saves us a lot of space for notes with telephone numbers and when we had bought a new phone, this also immediately indicated the calls with names, although we have these only on the AVM FRITZ Box 3490 DSL modem stored and stored.
