With its compact WLAN speakers, Bose Philips, Raumfeld and Sonos compete. It works very simply, if in each room a personal desire music should be played. A WLAN router is the prerequisite, as this belongs practically to all internet connections. In the home network sound the WLAN boxes, which the router spans. The boxes can then play Internetradio and also music, which is stored in the home network on computer. In this way, music from tablets and smartphones can also be played back. The hi-fi system in the classical sense is therefore no longer required. There are no unsorted CDs, no cable lettuce and no device stack.With the SoundTouch system, Bose offers many different WLAN boxes for all purposes. From this point onwards, three stereo speakers are also available. With the 42 centimeter width, the SoundTouch is a powerful chunk, but a small stereo system can be replaced. The SoundTouch 20 is only for the sideline listening at the workplace, in the bedroom or in the kitchen. The SoundTouch 10 with the battery is the most flexible and the smallest in the family.  

The music at the touch of a button

The music can be selected from the home as with other WLAN boxes via tablet and smartphone app from the home. The music can also be played directly from the tablet or smartphone. However, the 6 memory buttons can also be used to create playlists from their own music and the favorite Internet radios. To start the music, the app does not need to be called and the smartphone is searched for. It is sufficient to press the memory key completely. Very good is that the music starts in less than ten seconds. For a wireless system, this is really fast. The memory keys are also used just as quickly. When the music is running, simply press and hold the save button for a while. If there are several sound-touch loudspeakers in a network, the same favorites can be retrieved using the memory buttons. There are not six individual favorites for each loudspeaker. Exactly the same keys as the speakers has the supplied remote control and under it there are the buttons for the volume and the six memory keys. In the middle of the loudspeakers, displays can show the current title.  

Setup and operation

A small program on the computer or the app help with the commissioning. Something unusual is that an account has to be created with Bose. The configuration is stored there and, if necessary, it can easily be extended by additional WLAN boxes. If several SoundTouch components are in use, different music can be retrieved with everyone or the same can be played over all. Without time offset this works. The volume control system also reacts without a hitch. The search for the stored music or after radiators sucks just as smoothly. Bose even thought of the alphabetical search function.  

The clean and rich sound and the Abodienste

The great SoundToutch 30 can be impressive at the first listening. There are pressureful, clean and dust-proofed basses, the treble is clean and clear, and the voices are unadulterated. Absolute party-capable is the maximum volume. The basses are, of course, weaker in the smaller versions. They are just loud enough for the music elimination in the background and they sound nevertheless for their size also grown up. While the sound quality and operation is at the same level as the competition, the range of functions is rather lean. The retrieval of music on NAS is not possible according to Bose. Not yet available are also Internet services with desired music. The subscription services are also missing. Suppliers like Deezer and Spotify are now available.  

Important information

SoundTouch 30 is not as compact as the SoundToch20, because of Bose the drivers are combined with a subwoofer. Inside there are also sound channels and these are the so-called Waveguides. With the new SoundTouch series from Bose, the SoundTouch 30 is the largest representative. It is more than just a radio loudspeaker. Bose creates a system which is suitable for multiroom operation and without delays between individual components. Over the usual WiFi network runs the whole thing and on the basis is the SoundTouch net with the app support set up. The operation is absolutely simple and AirPlay accepts SoundTouch music and the computer can access music data via the libraries of Windows Media Player or iTunes. 6 memory keys are available for operation and these can be used with any source. An example would be the web radio. SoundTouch 30 offers a large-volume enclosure and is included the DSP-Optimized and Waveguide technology.
