The world of WLAN

After I missed the development of the Internet something, I wanted to finally use WLAN at home. Until now, I have always connected my laptop to the Internet via a LAN port. Now, however, the extension of my mobile contract has brought with me that I had a smartphone and I quickly recognized the merits of it. Of course, I did not cope with the monthly data volume. My best friend then recommended me that I should get a WLAN-capable modem. Since I had not much idea, I ordered with him together the AVM FRITZ Box 7430 DSL modem.  

The delivery

A few days later I received a small package of just under a pound. This included the AVM FRITZ Box 7430 DSL modem in the matching cardboard box with all cables. Since I still had no idea, my best friend helped me. The only thing I could judge immediately was the practical size, the extensive manual and the modern color.  

The furniture

This was more than just simple. With the help of my best friend, I could even make the settings. I have the AVM FRITZ Box 7430 DSL modem first connected with my laptop and then with the telephone connection in my wall. Amazingly, I could also connect my telephone with the AVM FRITZ Box 7430 DSL modem. I had now only to make the settings, in which I was connected with the Fritz box over my laptop. I configured my box with an Internet access and I already had internet. As before with my old modem.  

The WLAN setting

Now, however, the most important thing was that I connected my mobile phone with the AVM FRITZ Box 7430 DSL modem over WLAN. Via a simple button on the top of the modem I can turn on the WLAN and switch off as quickly again. Thanks to the numerous labeled LEDs on the side of the Fritz box, I can see if the WLAN was activated. Just as I recognize by the constant glow that the Internet connection is and the Fritz box in operation is. After I activated the WLAN, I have access to the settings of my smartphone. There my mobile phone immediately found the Fritz box and wanted to connect with it. However, I had to first enter the 20-digit access number, which is on a sticker at the bottom of the AVM FRITZ Box 7430 DSL modems. After I had saved the data, I immediately got access to the Internet and that much faster than via the mobile network. I was amazed that the reception of the WLAN in my whole apartment was possible. Even in my bedroom that is located at the other end of my apartment, I have had unimpeded internet access.  

Passwords and security

After an acclimatization phase, I then looked at the security settings. Since I had understood that I could also connect with my laptop over WLAN and thus the annoying cable bypass, I again have to enter the long code. Via the settings menu of the AVM FRITZ Box 7430 DSL modem, however, I can change the password. Quite simply, I could choose and change my own passwords here. What I also impressively feel that the Fritz box gives me the possibility that I have in the menu at any time an overview, whether my Internet connection is intact and whether I can be called. It also saves my calls and I can at all times understand, which number called me in my absence or whom I called.  

Voice over IP

What I until the purchase of the AVM FRITZ Box 7430 DSL modems did not know that I can also telephone over the Internet line. Voice over IP. Since my Internet contract was adapted to this, I could use this. Surprisingly good, as I noted. I have never had problems and hope there will not be any.
