VREDESTEIN Quatrac 3 - test on dry road

First, the performance characteristics of the VREDESTEIN Quatrac 3 were tested on a dry road in high-summer conditions and well 30 degrees outside temperature. The emphasis was placed on the grip and braking characteristics of the tire on dry roads. A conventional summer tire is often equipped with large and dimensionally stable tread blocks. An all-season tire shows smaller and lamellated tread blocks, which promise a lot of grip on snow-covered roads. Here, the all-weather tire has a small disadvantage compared to the classic summer tire with regard to the Bremspower. Since the tire rubber is too much for winter use, the profile blocks tilt more strongly in the case of uneven driving or full braking, which has a negative effect on the precise steering and the stability in the track. The stopping distance can be slightly longer. Nevertheless, the VREDESTEIN Quatrac 3 still has a satisfactory result, which is one of the best in comparison with other all-weather tires. In direct comparison with a good summer tire, however, the classic all-season tire loses a direct test on a dry road. A summer tire has perfect conditions due to its rubber mix which is designed directly on summer conditions, with which an allround tire can not keep up.  

The wet road - a challenge for all tire types

The VREDESTEIN Quatrac 3 has been tested again in the wet-humid climate for the already known characteristics: grip on wet roads and brake properties in wet conditions. It quickly becomes clear that an all-weather tire is clearly superior to a conventional summer tire on a wet road, especially at low temperatures. The VREDESTEIN Quatrac 3 was tested for wet water behavior in aquaplaning and was able to achieve very satisfactory results. Both the straight-ahead and the test of the side-lead had the whole-year tire compared to the summer tire clearly the front.The braking distance for a tire with VREDESTEIN Quatrac 3 year-round tires was significantly lower with a wet road than with a normal summer tire. The all-weather tire is highly recommended for damp weather.

Due to the laminating of the VREDESTEIN Quatrac 3 all-season tire, which is rather asymmetrical and supported by small profile blocks, the all-weather tire is very suitable for journeys on snow and ice. Wacker rolls the Quatrac 3 through the snow and has optimal driving behavior. The VREDESTEIN Quatrac 3 is marked with the snowflake symbol, which stands for a winter hardness of the tire. The M + S logo does not say anything about the actual winter characteristics of a tire. The VREDESTEIN Quatrac 3 all-season tire has been tested for driving comfort, noise development, tire wear and fuel consumption in addition to the driving behavior at different road conditions and climatic conditions. The VREDESTEIN Quatrac 3 offered the test riders a very comfortable ride with precise steering and little rolling resistance. The all-weather tire was comfortable to ride on dry as well as on wet or snow covered roads and felt safe and stable in the track. The lower rolling resistance has a very positive effect on the sound development of the tire when driving, here the VREDESTEIN Quatrac 3 also scored. The tire wear was rather low, which is however dependent on the respective driving behavior and the road conditions. With a wet or snow-covered road, little tire wear can be achieved, just as with prudent driving. During sporty driving and high temperatures, increased tire wear could be detected. The low rolling resistance of the VREDESTEIN Quatrac 3 has a positive influence on the fuel consumption during rides with the all-weather tire. This can be reduced in good driving, which is a great plus for the tire.
