The Abus RM20 Li smoke detector has an integrated heat warning function. Mostly the smoke detector is suitable for corridors, living rooms, children's rooms and for the bedroom. The smoke detector is also suitable for a maximum of 40 m² for the large rooms. The use in the small trade is also possible, if the sawmill, welding work, gas work or grinding work is not performed regularly within the premises.The smoke detector from Abus is also suitable for cows, because in the smoke chamber, the interior was designed in such a way that only very heavy water vapor enters the interior of the smoke chamber. However, the alarm is triggered when the water temperature is too high. This is important for full security. With the Abus RM20 smoke and heat detector, there is the bi-sensor processor technology. The smoke detector can react to visible smoke particles and also to the marked temperature rise. Both values, ie temperature and smoke particles are constantly monitored and evaluated by the ingenious algorithm. If temperature, smoke particle density and the fire characteristics are included, the false alarms can almost be excluded. The smoldering fires, which are often difficult to detect, can also be recognized much earlier. The functionality is checked by the device itself every 60 seconds and the detection sensitivity is automatically adjusted as a function of the environmental factors.  

The heat meter function and the integrated lithium battery

As already mentioned, the Abus RM20 smoke detector triggers an alarm when the ambient temperature rises markedly. If the temperature increases by more than four degrees within 80 seconds or more than 60 degrees in more than eight seconds, the alarm will be triggered. This function is only active from the minimum temperature of 40 degrees, so that the false alarms can be excluded. The Abus RM20 smoke detector is a closed system. The battery does not need to be replaced and is not possible. A lithium-ion battery is integrated, which has up to 12 years as a lifetime. The entire smoke detector must then be replaced. Every ninety seconds, a beep sounds when the battery reserve is reached. If two beeps are emitted every ninety seconds, it is time for the smoke detector to be replaced. There is no longer sufficient power for smoke and heat monitoring at this time.  

The assembly and foundation Warentest

The Abus RM20 Li smoke detector is in white and very discreet. Compared to many other smoke detectors, there is no flashing LED for the optical function display. This can be advantageous in the living room or in the bedroom. A magnetic plate is included in the scope of delivery and the RM20 can be easily mounted on the ceiling. The magnetic plate can optionally be screwed or glued to the ceiling. A 5 millimeter countersunk head screw as well as a 6 millimeter dowel are included. The Abus RM20 was tested in the smoke detector test of the Stiftung Warentest Foundation. A total of 9 smoke detectors were tested and the Abus RM20 achieved third place. The device was absolutely convincing in the handling area. The smoke alarm also offers the quality seal TÜV / Kriwan. These are test criteria that go beyond the requirements of the DIN EN standard.
