Finally Nokia has chosen to manufacture Android smartphones - and with the new models are available directly also dual SIM smartphone: the Nokia X and Nokia XL. Presented Nokia has it the end of February at the MWC 2014 in Barcelona, now they are pre-ordered at Amazon. However, the exact delivery time is not yet known.
Interestingly, Nokia just now Android phones introduced just before Microsoft closes the purchase of Nokia mobile division. However, it appears in the operation: The otherwise omnipresent in Android Google services Nokia has completely shut out - and instead integrated in-house offers such as Nokia App Store and its own mapping service "Here".
After many dual SIM phones, the first dual-SIM smartphones from Nokia
With dual SIM phones Nokia has already a lot of experience, the recent mobile phones but had made all the Nokia-own either from the operating Symbian and were for beginners or simple requirements - especially as classical keys phones like the Nokia 101 (Test) .
True smartphones had Nokia so far brought only with the Windows Phone operating system on the market, as "Lumia" series. Now expanded Nokia so his offer and continues with Android in addition to the currently most successful smartphone OS.
The models "X" and "XL"
Both smartphones are expected to lower middle class, the Nokia X rather still a beginner dual SIM Android is currently only for around 109 € you get a 4.0 "smartphone, the model Nokia XL with large 5.0" display for pre-order for still very reasonable € 149.
For this price, but you have unfortunately without some chic properties - already started with the display: more than 800 x 480 pixels are on the 5-inch XL not in it, while models such as the Alcatel One Touch Idol X (test) on the same surface Full HD with 1920 x 1080 pixels offer. What else is missing or could be better, we will discuss in detail shortly in the Nokia X and Nokia XL test.
Typical Nokia Design
How to become familiar with it from Nokia, the brand also offers the new dual-SIM models in several garish colors (6 variants the Nokia X, five color versions on the Nokia XL). Even otherwise similar models in design to current Nokia devices: The mobile phones are very clearly designed, with few lines and an edgy place rounded look.
Operation: hybrid of Android and Windows Phone
In principle, the operation is quite closely applied to that of the current Lumia models: The interface is similar with its tiles and very reduced 2D graphics strongly to Windows Phone.
And Google Maps & Co. here instead of the (far less extensive) Nokia Appstore, "Here" and other Nokia services are as already mentioned instead of Google Play, integrated in the system. Whether this works positively, we will, of course, an extensive test subject - and also look at how you can still install Google Play etc..
