Favorable price, strong package

With almost 150 euros the device is really cheap, but still has a lot of technical highlights. Whether color monitor, WiFi, bicycle holder or video editing software, in order to be able to process the material also on the PC - here you get a complete package that leaves nothing to be desired. Particularly useful is the color display, which could collect many positive points during the test. It is simply very pleasant to take pictures, to look at them directly. With other action cams is often missing this function or you have to buy an extra display. Here you get everything installed directly.  

Sharp full-HD image convinces

The most important question about how good the picture is, of course, must also be answered. And here, too, the Rollei S 30 WiFi Plus helmet camera delivers very good results. So the camera takes in Full HD on - that is, with 1920x1080 pixels. Crisp pictures are therefore no problem for the Rollei S 30. The refresh rate is 30 frames per second and a bit rate of around 12 kbit / s. Supergenaue Mega-Zeitlupen can not be expected here, but the picture is perfect for normal use. The 120-degree wide-angle lens ensures that everything is visible in the picture. Small quality mantages, especially at the picture edge, unfortunately can not be avoided here. However, one can not expect for this price also the picture quality of a three times as expensive GoPro. Therefore, the price-performance ratio with the Rollei S 30 WiFi Plus helmet camera in the end nevertheless. The sound, on the other hand, plays logically without a protective case - but with the "big" and expensive action cam colleagues. Since the microphone is located on the top of the camera, it takes the sound from all directions, in mono. This sounds good in practice as well.  

Weak photo function disappointed

Naturally, the Rollei S 30 WiFi Plus helmet camera not only makes video recordings, but also photos. Here, however, one has to say clearly that it is only an alibi function. The 2-megapixel images can only be saved in the 4: 3 format and appear faded and dark. Although the images can be converted to 5 megapixels, but this does not affect the picture quality. On the day in the Hellen geknipst, the photos are at least best for Facebook or Instagram still quite useful. As soon as the light conditions deteriorate, however, the photos with the Rollei S 30 WiFi Plus helmet camera are no longer usable.  

Internet memory with up to 64 Gbytes

There is no internal memory on which the material is recorded. Instead, one needs a micro SD card, which can then record up to 64 Gbytes of data. If one takes up in full resolution, then an hour of material need about 6 Gbyte. If you want, the action camera can also remotely control via mobile app. This works like a remote control. The Rollei app is very badly translated into German, but it works very well. Especially the super-short delay time convinces here. Almost 1: 1 you see on the mobile screen then, what one takes.
