The La Siesta Paloma hammock in the test
After our sofa had literally collapsed, it quickly became clear: instead of a new bulky seat furniture, we create a hammock for our 2-seater apartment. After already positive experiences with Mexican net hammocks and light outdoor variants, it should now be a real South American cloth hammock for the living room. It should be big, made of genuine cotton, cozy natural and rather discreet in appearance. After some research the choice fell on the La Siesta Paloma hammock.
A classic Colombian cloth hammock with understatement
The La Siesta Paloma hammock fulfills all our criteria:
- She's tall, almost gigantic, with a total length of 350 cm, the lying surface is 230 cm long and 160 cm wide
- There is a genuine Colombian hammock, handmade and with the typical suspension, the well distributed the weight
- The cloth is woven from high-quality pure cotton
- The alternating fine or broad vertical stripes in gray-green and white tones are discreet and unobtrusive
The prerequisites for comfortable hanging were thus given.
The La Siesta Paloma hammock in the everyday test
Already during unpacking, the large number of suspension cords were noticeable, which were easily unraveled when hanging up. The handling of the hammock is very easy thanks to the large and robust hanging pockets. The distance between the suspension points is important. With the already existing ceiling hooks at a distance of about 2.5 m we could not reach a good hanging. The La Siesta Paloma needs more than 3 m distance between the suspension points to be able to unfold properly. Then lies very comfortable and pleasant on the wide cloth. In the dwelling it fits well in color, with the suspension in the outdoors, the hammock is hardly visible due to the natural colors between the trees.
Double hangs better
The La Siesta Paloma hammock is a double hammock. A person can comfortably spread in the longitudinal, transverse and oblique position. She is also generous to cuddle together. The hardness test with two adults and two children (the load capacity: 160 kg stated by the manufacturer) did well. A nap, however, also quickly shows that it is only suitable for shared nights under the stars.
