The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 has a very large 6 inch display. This smartphone can fit into the line of smartphones that are getting bigger and bigger. Overall, however, this immense display diagonal is well hidden by the smartphone giant from China. Compared to other XXL smartphones, the display is only half an inch larger and thus it is only marginally larger. This is made possible by the enormous extension from the display to the lower and upper edge and to the sides.With the depth of 7.9 millimeters, the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is relatively thin and it can elegantly disappear in the host pocket. In comparison, the device for the used metal housing, the lavishly dimensioned battery and for its size with 185 grams is relatively light. The Mate 7 weighs as much as the Nexus 6, which has a plastic housing and a smaller battery. Above all doubt, the quality of the processing is sublime. The slim side line and the back are made of aluminum. Each display includes a thin plastic chassis. There is no crunching or crunches, and this is not the case with the increased effect of force on the housing. On the right side of the chassis are all physical buttons from the smartphone. On the back, fingerprint sensor, flash and camera are found. The 3.5 mm jack connector is located on the upper housing side and there is the micro-USB jack for the supply of power. For microphones there are small inputs at the bottom and at the top. Slots for the micro USB and SIM card are available on the left side of the housing.  

The equipment of the smartphone

The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 offers excellent features. The display has 6 inches and is therefore very large. This display resolves with 1080 x 1920 pixels in Full HD quality. The display is pleasantly bright, everything is razor-sharp and the color reproduction is balanced of course. The viewing angle dependency is also very small. The two interconnected Quad-Core processors with 1.3 and 1.8 gigahertz maximum clock rate ensure the consistently smooth performance. These processors have two gigabytes of memory available in the Mate 7.  

Operation

In Category 6, LTE is supported on the device. NFC and Bluetooth 4.0 are also missing. Thanks to the large display, the operation is only conditionally possible. With one hand, the whole can also be operated with little practice comfortably. The one-hand operation function provides a little help and thus navigation buttons, keyboard and dialpad are pushed together by the telephone and placed at the edge of the phone. With the jerky tilting of the Mate 7 to the right or left succeeds. The WLAN connectivity can not convince, because here compared to other smartphones a low to weak reception quality and it is only maximum surfed with the n standard. This is probably due to the aluminum housing. Should be surfed often with WLAN and there should be an excellent reception, then other devices are probably the better choice. If you want to unlock the device, you can use the fingerprint sensor on your back. The setup of the fingerprint works very well. The Huawei scanner can measure with the Apple Touch ID.  

Important information about the device

The Ascend Mate comes with a highly customized user interface called Emotion UI 3.0. It renounces the classic App Drawer and is based on Android 4.4.2. If you do not like the operating concept, the change to the usual Android interface works with the alternative app launcher. Huawei also uses his own painting in the notification field and works with the notification chronology. The comfortable control of the device is allowed by many quick-setting links. In the Mate 7, some features remind you of the benefits of iOS. In the locked display, anyone can access some speed settings, for example. The device is not free of bloatware and so some Google services can not be removed.  

The recharge time and the voice quality

The Mate 7 must not hide behind other current smartphones with regard to voice quality. The call partners are perceived as natural. Only a slight basic noise is a minimal interfering factor, which interferes subtly in the conversations. Effectively, disturbing background noise is filtered. A micro sim card is pushed into the device, so that the device can be used as a telephone. With the battery, there are 4,000 milliamper hours and this battery can not be exchanged. A lot of energy is supplied, which is also required by the large display. With more than three hours, the full loading is not exactly short. Several battery packs are available when the power supply becomes tight. The system shows the highest power consumption of the apps in the menu point and there are many system optimization options. Acceleration times of an average of 1.5 to 2 days are possible.
