The Windows Phone 8 Windows mobile phone has come to the market in 2012 and with the version 8.1. Revised. The revised version offers improved application possibilities.

The altered Lumia Camera

The Lumia 830, 930 and 1520 devices are equipped with the Lumia Camera-App version 5. The advantage of this is that this function works much faster than the previous application. This applies to the start as well as to the saving. This app version also gives you the best recording experience. Here you have the possibility to create several photos in different exposures one behind the other. In this case, effects of HDR or long-term exposure during night-shots are set automatically. It is also possible to adjust the HDR effect flexibly afterwards. The Lumia devices 930 as well as 1520 additionally have the function to record videos in a 4k resolution.-In addition, it is possible to subsequently save from the video individual still images as 8-megapixel photos.  

Language assistant Cortana with German language

With this function the version of Lumia Denim can also be used in German. You can activate this language assistant Cortana by pressing the search button on the mobile phone for a while or via the app in the menu program or via the tile above the start screen. This service runs in the background. Here you can set up appointments, the incoming e-mails are read and upcoming appointments are announced. Also, be advised if you are close to reaching a previously defined address. Also the best restaurants in the area are announced. Cortana is also supported by apps such as Skype or Twitter. This Microsoft voice control system gathers data on the respective smartphone, in order to process it and make appropriate recommendations. However, what data is stored is still determined by the user. The system Cortana, like Google Now, is able to report this when you are on a road to a previously entered destination in a traffic jam.  

Other changes

For version 8.1. You can call up a status bar from top to bottom, as in the case of Android, by means of a corresponding wipe operation, which then offers access to the newly received mail, messages and important functions. If you have a sufficiently fast memory card (Class 10) with this mobile phone, you can now also bring apps to external memory cards. This has worked with the previous function only with photos, movies and music files. The Windows tiles on the existing screen can be embellished with a separate background image, which, when you go to the Start menu, appears transparent through. Swift wiping over the letters automatically creates words. After a short familiarization, writing is simplified considerably. For those who use the FritzBox WLAN router also, the device is now additionally able to play also answering machine announcements from e-mails.  

Many changes in technology

The new flexible volume control system allows you to adjust the ringtones as well as the media playback, for example volume videos, separately. At night, the mobile phone automatically mutes and forwards calls only from a maximum of 40 contacts, which were marked as important calls by the user. Thus one is awakened only with very important calls. Also the version 8.1. Prevents full-screen apps from being terminated by inadvertently touching the search button. Also a corresponding payment function with this version is prepared, by NFC. Also, the screen can be displayed wirelessly (in the form of Miracast) on a monitor or TV or via USB cable on a Windows PC. Also with the Play-to-App version over Nokia's Lumia models can be reproduced movies and photos on DLNA-compatible Smart TVs. There is also a file manager. In addition, this version includes a feature that automatically detects both bad and good networks and connects them to free networks or to access restricted hotspots.
