In low-entry level around 100 € Archos brings now a 5.0-inch dual SIM smartphone on the market: The Archos 50 Neon with a MSRP of 129 € - but it is offered as already cheaper on Amazon. The 50 Neon is the larger version for Archos 40b Titanium, which is for a number of months on the market (in Germany since April). Before an extensive test here our first impressions.
Display: 5.0 "without HD
On behalf Archos 50 Neon image size is already included: 5.0 inches are currently all the rage, however, leaves the low purchase price of this dual SIM phone in this case leaves no room for a resolution as top handsets of 5.0 inch class offer.
That in itself is not surprising, once you compare the purchase prices for the Full HD models as Wiko Highway (currently just under 300 €) andHTC One M8 Dual (currently about 600 €). However, there should be such a large display but possible HD.
With the odd low resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, the Archos 50 provides under neon even several models of the 4.3-inch size. Lean 196 dpi pixel density are the result. Certainly not a disaster, but far from the Full HD models of this size.
Operating System: Android 4.2.2
In terms of operating system, the Archos offers no further Schnitzer: Although version 4.2.2 is not just the latest version, is behind Android 4.4 but not too far back.
The 50 Neon from all sides - stylistically there is no indication on the competitive price.
In everyday life, the "Jelly Bean" version but perfectly adequate. Up to a few pre-installed apps - especially around Multimedia - leaves Android operating system the way the "original state". Whoever therefore not particularly like in other mobile phone brands that have an additional interface is partly filled, can use an almost pure Android here.
Move the 50 Neon supports not only the standard UMTS, but also its faster version HSDPA up to 21.6 Mbit / s in the data receiving (and 5.76 Mbit / s in the uplink). By comparison, the best dual SIM models in the test are currently at 42 Mbit / s in data reception.
If you want to surf at home on the couch or while on vacation at the hotel via WLAN, can of course also.
On Android is the "Settings" menu contains an additional entry to control the two SIM cards. Here you can preset one card for individual functions, unless you want to. By also the ringtone can be set differently for both phones, is already clear when ringing, on which number you just called.
Snapshots and with a bit of luck when it comes to lighting and some really beautiful images makes the 5-megapixel camera on the back of the smartphone. The front cam provides VGA, which for chats, well, work. For Selfies are not exactly the best conditions, but they are also feasible.
Change Cover're at it: In addition to black and yellow and blue.
Processor and memory
This reads well: a quad-core 1.3GHz drives the Archos 50 Neon on. However, there is a MediaTek processor, which has to make do with meager 512 MB of RAM. This means that memory-intensive apps to not be installed only if they occupy more than 512 MB.
The internal memory of 4 GB else is raised for a special EU version to 8GB and is therefore no longer tight - also an expansion via microSD card to a maximum of 64 GB is possible.
made Nett is the reverse: here Archos offers directly several exchange cover included. In this case, in the colors black, blue and yellow. However, these covers are not neonfarben about, as one might infer from the mobile phone name, but rather decorated in soft, matte tones.
Under the covers you can also find the fortunately replaceable 2000 mAh battery, an advantage that does not offer many top models.
The dimensions and the weight falling from quite high: 14.5 x 7.3 x 0.92 cm and 170 grams come together. In comparison, the Huawei Ascend P7 brings in our test just 126 grams on the scale.
A very favorable dual SIM smartphone 5-inch class, the number of weaknesses (especially the display), while on masters important everyday subjects such as fast mobile internet and usable photos. The small memory and processor of the middle class are not particularly suitable for power applications. Those looking for even then, should the (albeit more expensive) best models from the once dual SIM mobile test view.
