In Huawei Ascend P7 test we take the Chinese manufacturer's flagship under the microscope.
The reason to check the smartphone under dual SIM tests, is the availability of the same model with 2 SIM cards in China. Contrary to initial announcements, however, the Ascend P7 is not available as a dual SIM phone in the German market.
Winner of the EISA Award: The Ascend P7
Of course it is still possible that Huawei will promote the dual SIM version later in Germany. But the chances of that happening are not too high. Presumably, it is probably similar to the Galaxy S5 Duos and similar models only through a direct import be possible in this country to get the Huawei Ascend P7 dual SIM version.
The only high-end dual-SIM smartphone with official distribution in Germany is thus currently the HTC One M8 Dual .
Less: the model is a very favorably-priced model in the class of high-end phones, and relies primarily on (not meant negatively) points outward appearances: A very light weight compared to S5, M8, Z2 & Co and an elegant aluminum frame and a brilliant, rich color 5.0 "Full HD display.
By the way: The EISA Award for the "Best Product 2014-2015" in the category "Consumer Smartphone" went to - drumroll - the Huawei Ascend P7.
The Unboxing: Huawei unveiled its new P7
Although many by name Huawei certainly see still mainly a question mark in front of him: In fact, this Chinese group is behind Samsung and Apple, the global producer of the most sold smartphones. However, barely Followers equal several other suppliers.
In Germany Huawei recently made two things talked about: The Ascend P6 as effective and extremely flat 4.7 "Android phone with aluminum frame - and with the equipment of the BVB stadium with WLAN (thus puts into effect Huawei claims to be the largest wireless system ever, measured by the simultaneous use of approximately 40,000 users). Also in terms of network technology and infrastructure Huawei is a great "global player".
Ascend P7 in China by default as a dual SIM model
But so enough about the company, a lot of important and interesting for all fans kept 2 SIM phones: The new flagship model Ascend P7 is also available as dual-SIM Android Phone, like the Samsung Galaxy S5 Duos , which as in individual markets China has come as a variant with a second SIM slot on the market. Anyone wishing to use such a model, however, has to find a suitable importer, if the manufacturer itself offers the device in Germany not with 2 Slots - rather of China usable alternatively for microSDs or SIMs 2nd rack in German or European model is exclusively to be used for the microSDs.
Ascend P7 as dual SIM version - for now not available in Germany
The new flagship of the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world is mobile come in many countries, but not in Germany as dual SIM on the market! Therefore, we report via its capabilities and features, will not be able to include in our leaderboard after the test. After all, the cell phone data are exciting for all fans of mobile phones for 2 SIM cards: with Full HD image resolution, LTE for mobile high-speed Internet and NFC brings the newbie the standards, which are a prerequisite for a true high-end model.
canceled flagship with 2 SIM slots
Had the initial expectations met, one would have rightly asked: How Huawei gets the idea, while other major auto manufacturer hang their premium handsets rows as mono-SIM models? For many markets, especially those in Europe, not very affine dual SIM. Nevertheless, the possibility seemed not unrealistic: Firstly Huawei a little more dual-SIM is sure why affine because the brand already with various dual SIM phones in the test noticed as the Huawei Ascend G700 (test) or the now somewhat older Ascend G525 (test) .
Second number - or rather more memory?
Second, it must be said that the company has so housed the 2nd SIM slot in the 2-SIM variant a bit hidden in the new P7 - so that the two versions of Mono <-> let Dual prepared without large inputs.
What's hiding here? Well, you have as a user decide as a buyer of dual SIM version annoyingly if you want to take a second SIM or memory card: Both slots are namely under the same cover (or more specifically, you are filled over the same tray slider) , And to use both slots at the same time, unfortunately, is not.
In Germany, it is therefore stay with the design used in the Ascend P6: The SIM tray accepts only a Micro SIM card, the second SIM Tray only a microSD memory card.
Restriction or trifle?
Who wants to import a P7 and considering whether it the either-or choice 2 SIMs or 1 memory card to appear impractical: This is of course a matter of taste. On the other hand: A memory expansion via microSD is now no compulsion or indispensable need. You definitely offers advantages, but also without a smartphone with well dimensioned internal memory can eventually running smoothly. And with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM, the Huawei model is probably a solid position - a detailed test is the investigate further if Huawei is still vermakrten the model with us.
But you can the P7 with two SIM slots certainly not be accused of not being a fully valid dual SIM model. Maybe one that is started in the direction 2 SIM use a bit with the handbrake on, but otherwise does not bring limitations up to the strange need for external memory cards.
