Test report: Wiko Ridge 4G mobile phone

The statement that Wiko smartphones boring and the equipment is rather in the middle class, has not been true for a long time. With the Ridge 4G, the French-Chinese manufacturer proves that a low price and quality fit well.

The design and processing

Cheap mobile phones were not really nice to look at, but this time has been a long time. The Wiko Ridge G4 is a good example. It scores for example with a chic design and a flat design. Also technically, the Ridge is well positioned. In the meantime, 7.5 millimeters of building depth is no longer a feature, especially not in the upper class of smartphones. The RIdge 4G from WIko cleans in the middle class and thus this model looks chic and high-quality. The black back is a part of it - so the mobile phone is handy and fits perfectly in the hand. The low weight (125 grams) and the pleasant curves underline the feeling. Noble metal inserts with sanding edges are embedded in the narrow side of the mobile phone. Due to the numerous color variations offered, it is sporty and dynamic, but still rather classy. Behind the removable back cover hide the slot for the Micro-Sim and the Micro-SD card. Alternatively, a micro- or nano-SIM card can also be inserted. A plus is the possibility that the battery is removable, but not without tools.

The display and the quality

Tests show that Wiko is using the RIdge 4G on a 5-inch IPS display. This is protected with Gorilla Glass 3. However, the resolution is only 1.280 x 720 pixels - but is absolutely fine for this price class. Furthermore good contrast, brightness and angle of view are good. On the display there is hardly anything to complain about.

Software, hardware and operation

Also the times of the cheap mediatek chips are over, because with the Ridge G4 a chipe insert of the well-known manufacturer Qualcomm is used. There is not only the Snapdragon 410 with 64 bit, but also the four cores, which afford up to 1.2 GHz. This is perfectly in line with the Areno-306 GPU; Also the 2 GB RAM. Another plus is that the apps are now also on the Wiko Ridge G4 on the Homescreen. For a better overview, folders can be set up. Colorful are the icons of the standard apps. However, the preinstalled programs such as MusicFX, CleanMaster, Data Manager and Flashlight are not so popular. These can not be removed by the user afterwards.

The camera

Rear 13 megapixel and front 5 megapixel and of course LED flash - this sounds great for the Wiko Ridge 4G. Further features are added, such as Beautyhot, HDR, serial image recording. The triggering speed is not too high. The mobile phone offers ZSL. This activation completely eliminates the triggering speed problem.

Battery and conversation quality

The quality of conversation is also mediocre - it is neither bad nor fantastic. The intelligibility is however acceptable and the volume also. Misfires do not show tests. The battery provides 2.400 mAh. This is absolutely sufficient for proper standby times. With a chipset, however, the battery life is reduced. Most users, however, arrive for two days with battery charging. When using two SIM cards at the same time, of course, with small smears of the battery.

Conclusion

Conclusion guyOn the whole, Wiko convinces with the Ridge G4. Here and there minor reductions have to be made, with which the user can live absolutely. Now and then it can come to workmanship, which is not the rule with the Ridge G4. The fact that Wiko, like other manufacturers also, the customers surprise with Bloatware, is not so great. The manufacturer should still work on this. But the RIdge G4 scores with the dual SIM capability, a smart design, a fast 64-bit processor from Qualcomm and a good display. The unnecessary software should disable the user if necessary - in the case of the Cleaner Master in any case. Despite this, there is no reason to buy the Wiko Ridge G4. It is not expensive and also not overly cheap - so recommendable. Battery, camera and the design can be seen and can also be recorded with comparable devices.
