Simple VR glasses for many Smartphones
is the new trend to stop no longer. Seemingly every week another manufacturer brings out a virtual-reality goggles for smartphones. There are what you so can do with this VR glasses more and more ways. The dream in your own living room in virtual worlds to dive is close to access or buy. Like many new gadgets, there are however great price and quality differences. The model VR-O1 by Aukey is currently quite cheap with less than 25 euros and can convince with Headtracking, adjustable lens, great fit and ease of use. I have carefully scrutinized the VR goggles and tested. If you look at the many advantages but also disadvantages of this VR glasses, you can sure easily decide whether it is right for you.
Packaging and delivery
after two days delivery time the VR glasses arrived already ready built together with me. The stable soda carton, which is used for the packaging, makes the glasses as a surprise gift. The actual product box is light brown and inside a white sleeve is printed at a photo of VR goggles. The text is in black and some green and is limited to the product name, the Aukey Web address and a QR code on the bottom, which leads only to the Aukeyseite, on which there is no further information or tips. The glasses are protected in bubble wrap packaging. In the box are:
- The VR-O1-VR glasses by Aukey
- a cleaning cloth
- two pieces of self-adhesive foam adhesive
- a user manual
- a guarantee - and service card
warranty
on the warranty card is that Aukey extended the warranty period of 12 months to 6 months, when it registered its product there. In addition, Aukey granted a 30-day money back guarantee and a 90-day warranty on replacement, a factory defect. With just 25 euros (October 2016), the Smartphone-VR glasses by Aukey in the lower price is
Facilities of the Smartphone-VR glasses
the VR goggles headset by Aukey arrives fully assembled. In addition to the actual Smartphone VR glasses two small show fabric glue, a lens cleaning cloth, a manual were au German, English, French, Spanish and Italian.
Dimensions and weight
the VR goggles weighs 39 grams u without Smartphone ND, the mass has 19 cm width (widest point), 15.5 cm long and 8 cm depth (deepest point). The lateral rubber/nylon head harness is approximately 23 cm on each side long unstretched and the strap of the harness that runs up over the head, is 26 cm long. The back cushion made of artificial leather, which combines the tapes, has the dimensions 10 x 6,5 x 0,4 cm. The lenses have a radius of 3 cm and 1 cm long are the two rubber adhesive elements. The mobile door offers maximum 17.5 cm in length and 7.5 cm in the wide square in in length for smartphones. Minimally, the mobile phone must be 6 cm in width for the holder to take. I have measured the mass and weighed the device.
Headtracking
the VR goggles is equipped with a G-sensor and a gyroscope, which you can control with the head to some extent and to 360-degree look around. This Headtracking is a great feature for playing together with a remote controller. A controller is not, and must be purchased separately.
Smartphonegrößen
the information for the possible matching Smartphonegrößen of the manufacturer's I could not measure (our Samsung Galaxy 5 s and Apple iPhone 4S fit), therefore these statements come from the manufacturer. -Length: up to 15.4 cm width: up 8.2 cm thick/depth: unspecified, but our smartphones fitted with protective cover not
correction possibilities:
- you can focus with a game room, adjust according to the manufacturer, 2 cm
- indicating how far you can remove the screen of the lenses, I could find no indicationbut after 1 cm unscrew it is wound up
- there is pointing "up to 400 degrees" for short-sighted - I unfortunately do not know what the manufacturer so that means
glasses note
this VR glasses can not be worn with glasses, because there is no space. If you use these glasses, you should wear contact lenses. Field of view: Unfortunately, there is no information on the field of view, but I would appreciate it on 100 degrees.
appearance and processing the VR glasses
which is processing, with the exception of a small processing error at the conclusion of the valve to the Lenses, where left a gap is clean. It smells pleasant and makes a good impression. The lightweight plastic housing is black with a silver strip off and shaped like a mask. The Crown of upholstery foam has a synthetic leather coating which absorbs the distance between lens and face. The sunglasses clings well to the skin, but not completed and therefore light penetrates. The huge opening for the nose is to blame. The carrying harness can be anywhere to adjust and adapt, but somewhat slippery. The little art leather cushions on the back of the head could be to blame, because it is very smooth. This is only a supposition on my part. There are holes which you can recharge your Smartphone while you watch a video or play on both sides of the door. Above on the unit it is a wheel with the sharpness with a game room, can adjust according to the manufacturer, 2 cm. Two rotary screw spacing are positioned on the sides.
Commissioning of the VR glasses
the manufacturer recommends nothing unfortunately what the apps or media is concerned, upset at YouTube or ACE player VR compatible content to look at. You should just make sure that it is either an app, which splits the movies, or choose equal split "cardboard media". Now the video is adjusted so, that you must press only playback. Front of the glasses is a flap in the cover to use the Smartphone. If the Smartphone using adhesive foam is ideal (without buttons pressing the retaining bar) and centrally clamped and if is the video, k You lappt the lid to. Now it puts on the VR goggles, adjusting the safety belts and adjusts the distance from the screen to the lens by using the two screws on the sides and with the Rotary wheel at the top of the sharpness. With a remote control, you could play games too, which is but unfortunately not included.
Practice test
I used an iPhone 4S and 5s a Samsung Galaxy for the test. First, I have searched a few "cardboard movies" on YouTube and inserted the smartphone into the flap. Included two 1.5 cm wide adhesive show parts are included, which make it possible that the Galaxy not constantly buttons are pressed, which was the case without the label. The Galaxy, nor the iPhone fit with their protective covers in the device. The adjustment was difficult because you hear clicking noises and then manually with some violence again must push in the part if you turn the two screws on the sides too far forward. It seated (even before the trial) left not quite flush on the device, which was so maybe only with this device. The screw allows some leeway for sharpness, which is not sufficient dioptres for glasses with more than 0.5. I have performed, since is also no place for a pair of glasses, the test with contact lenses. To look around in the virtual spaces using Headtracking glasses slipped again slightly to below, were the straps as tight as possible set. After that was done, I could see the found cardboard films. I chose a short anime Strip, a short flight from the perspective of a bird, and a 10-minute excursion into space. The dreaded ghosting appeared in any film and the image was sharp and so large even at the small iPhone that I could see no framework. Unfortunately light came through down plenty of light on both sides next to my nose, because the gap is huge. That diminishes the feeling this to be as well as the sound of the Smartphones, which is now once more than 360 degrees. Here, you can help but with some, associated with the Mobile Bluetooth boxes. For an "immersion" in other worlds, the Aukey unfortunately not enough VR glasses. You sweat even after an hour not (for the glasses not stuck enough on the face) and the pickled smartphones stuck right. Through the Headtracking I can imagine perfectly, that also gaming is possible, but I could not test it without remote control.
Conclusion
The VR glasses by Aukey is appropriate and does what it should. Movies are with you to see clearly and without ghosting. The adjustment is however from the head harness, as well as the distance of the lenses to the Smartphonebildschirm improvement. By the incidence of light and the slides she's glasses to sit and in a not so bright room to watch movies. All in all is the Aukey VR O1 according to their price and if the environment is not too bright, suited perfectly to the film shows and with a remote control through their Headtracking to play.
