  • Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean)
  • 4.7 “(11.9 cm) touchscreen
  • WLAN, UMTS, HSPA + (up to 21 Mbit / s)
  • 1.2GHz quad-core processor

It is a first for us the first time we tested a Romanian smartphone. The Allview V1 Viper has surprised us very positive, in some disciplines, it is even real highlights.

But the V1 provides not only high quality, but also calls for a self-conscious price – the highest among the top models. Those looking for not only a bargain, but want to fork out for one of the currently best dual SIM phones, could be find here.

4.7 inches: Brilliant Screen

Allview V1 Viper Cell Test 2013Clear and color rich images: The V1 display shows that in the range up to 5 “also normal HD resolution (without Full HD) really good image results are possible.

With 1280 x 720 pixels, it has the highest pixel density of all previously competing models in our checklist (312 dpi). The Huawei G700 (test) does offer the same resolution, but on a slightly larger display area.

The IPS technology Gorilla Glass screen does the way to a very wide viewing angle, which is convenient especially in longer videos or playing games. The casing around the display is very compact, and especially flat: with just 137.5 x 68.4 x 7.9mm at 125g is slightly longer, but significantly thinner and lighter than the 4.5 “dual SIM smartphone Acer Liquid E2, the 131.0 x 68.0 x 9.9mm and 140g measures weighs.

Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system

Dual SIM settings in Android 4.2 MenuThe OS 4.2 is currently still standard, the latest versions 4.3 and 4.4 are not yet installed in any dual-SIM model. For standard Android OS of course the dual-SIM Control has been added, see screenshot and the section entitled “Dual-SIM Control” a little further down.

Otherwise, the operating system has no special features – so if you a pure possible Android like, is here well served, useful oer convenient additional functions of user interfaces like Samsung’s TouchWiz or Huawei Emotion so however missing.

Speed and mobile Internet

The transitions between each app, launching new apps and scrolling and scrolling between some pages were in V1 Viper test as soon as in almost any other dual SIM smartphone. The quad-core processor operates at 1.2GHz and promoted the Allview V1 Viper with the head of our  mobile test leaderboard .

Even surfing can quickly pass off: up to 21.6 Mbit / s are possible – however, this only applies for that SIM card which is inserted into slot. 1 The respective other SIM only offers 2G (EDGE and GPRS).

Dual-SIM Control and switch between map

SIM slots in Allview V1 ViperFor the 2 SIM cards that Allview V1 Viper two easily accessible SIM card slots has prepared under the back cover. Of which is a format micro-SIM, the other standard SIM. However, only the micro-SIM slot is suitable for mobile Internet with 3G and faster here so you should insert that card, with which you want to surf mostly. The control takes place under “Settings” in the menu items “dual sim settings” and “ringtones”.

Dual SIM management Viper V1 TestThe two maps can be assigned in the mobile phone menu different name, icon colors and ringtones, to keep them visually and audibly faster apart can. For outgoing voice calls and SMS / MMS you can specify whether you want to default preset a SIM for that feature or if the phone should ask before each call or each SMS which SIM card you want to use.

To make video calls and mobile Internet on the other hand you have to preset a card. Contacts can optionally associate with a particular SIM, so that they are automatically called by the correct number.

By clicking you can also enable or disable each of the two SIMs separately – if you want to be accessible, for example during holidays or at night on the job number is not. Parallel calls on both numbers are the same, as with almost all dual SIM phones, not possible.

Good quality equipment – up to the camera

The smartphone comes with 3 back shells to change, in the colors blue, gray and black – the latter is rubberized, which ensures the adherence for slip resistance. The back buckets are positioned neatly and firmly on the housing, nothing rattles. The three hardware buttons (on / off and volume up volume down rocker, all on the right long side) make a stable impression. The display is as mentioned very well and reacts on tap easily. The sound quality is good, even in conversations. A Yamaha audio amplifier and DTS support the sound.

The only serious disappointment is the 8 megapixel resolution per data sheet camera to allow Full HD video: The record can not be added to only snapshots and posting via social networks, where it is ultimately not particularly arrives on the image quality. For beautiful vacation memories or the like, the – not to use a little washed out colors and streaky contours – at least on our test model. After all: A practical panorama function is included. Who especially enjoy photographing with a mobile phone against should before purchase rather again the Huawei Ascend G700 or the Acer Liquid E2 Test View.

Peculiarities in the control: “ALLCLICK”

ALLCLICK control - Viper V1 TestAllview complements the Android user interface to the “ALLCLICK” function. It manifests itself in that will be displayed over any active application, but also about menus, a transparent gray circle with about 0.5 cm diameter. The can hold as a cursor and slide or tap anywhere on the screen: This it opens at the bottom of a program-Bar, in which you can store his favorite apps and so start from any other application or can call.

This may, as required might be handy, but even after a few weeks in the test use, we have discovered for this function no real need – the normal calling apps (especially if they run parallel in any case) is not significantly simplified by ALLCLICK. As it starts optional and not mandatory, it does not bother also.

The preinstalled user interfaces are fresh and modern. They bring along with some themes and background with some effects for image transitions between home screens. A real feature set Smart2View represents. These now separately something more.

Smart2View: transfer phone display on the TV

Smart2View would actually be a separate test-topic: There is a HDMI stick, which (along with the pre-installed in the V1 Viper app “Wireless Display”) couples the smartphone via Bluetooth with any HDMI-enabled TV – and the image of the mobile phone displays parallel displays on the large Bildschim. Ingsesamt the major was fun and works well. On the Smartphone Calling a YouTube video or a game and follow the on TV together with others – technically that’s pretty well solved.

However, the vote would have to be a bit further optimized: The picture was from time to time stand for a second or two, but after that it went mostly smoothly for 10 minutes further. The vote of the resolution is not perfect: Depending on the app or screen position a few pixels were ever “cut off” on the television edge. The change from upright to cross image on the smartphone made the TV picture with the Smart2View test usually, sometimes, it remained in the vertical position.

Who is in principle interested to throw his smartphone display on an HDMI television, will be disappointed despite these minor limitations, probably not. The so far rather little known in Germany manufacturer has landed with this accessory a real insider tip.
